How do I apply for my OTA? (For LoCs)

Modified on Thu, 15 Aug at 9:36 AM

Please note the below FAQ is directed at the OTA as a pre-requisite to obtaining a Letter of Competence. If you are on your Diploma pathway, please see this FAQ instead.

The 2024 launch of the website introduced some improvements to our website making it easier to now access details on our OTAs, submit applications and request employer invoices. The below steps will show you how to apply.

Accessing the information

Step 1. Log in or register. To access any of our application forms, you do not need to be a member with us but you do need to at least have a registered account on our system as this will allow us to track your application and completion of pre requisite assessments. Use the top bar on FSRH.org to select whether you wish to log in to an already created account or to register for a new one.

HINT: If you believe that you may already have registered for an account and no longer know the details, do not create a new account as this will not contain any of your previous qualification or achievement history. Instead, reach out to our member support team to request they help you locate your previous information.

Once logged in, you will notice the top bar has now updated to show the below options. This means your login has been successful so you will be able to access our forms.

Step 2. Access the information pages.  Using the menu bar, hover over Education and Training (as underlined below) and you will see a menu appear which holds the OTA page as shown in pink font below. Select this to open a page with information about the OTA, how to apply and any required steps.

If you are already logged in, here is a direct links you may use.

Online Theory Assessment OTA (for LoCs only)

Making an Application

Step 1. Finding the application areas. On the above pages, scroll down the How to enrol section where the button labelled "Access the Online Theory Assessment" will open your application.

Step 2. Begin the application form Open the application form and complete the fields, making sure not to skip the section called Reasonable Adjustments should you require one.

Insert FAQ - Reasonable Adjustments (Coming soon)

IMPORTANT: If you require a reasonable adjustment, please upload your supporting evidence along with your application for our team to review and add to your record. Our team review these twice weekly so please submit your application at least 3 working days in advance of looking to sit your exam if you require the additional time to be granted.

Step 3. Selecting your self/employer payment options.

As you progress you then have to make a decision around payment options. Here is a description of the 3 options for you.

  • Credit/Debit card - Selecting this option will only allow you to make an immediate payment by either credit or debit card for the full amount.
  • Invoice for Employer/Trust - This option will bring up fields for you to complete which will then generate a bespoke invoice which you can download from your member portal and email to your employer. If you do not have all required invoice information before you start, it is possible to edit later through your member portal.
  • Prepaid by Employer/Trust - This option will bring up fields for you to complete which will then allow us to locate any payments from your employer and correctly allocate their payments. If you need to correct any information here after submission then please let our Finance team know via Finance@FSRH.org

Please note: You will not be granted any access to the OTA until full payment has been received. No exceptions will be given.

Step 4. Completing the application. Once the payment options are selected, take special care to check all details of you application before proceeding to the next page as you cannot hit the back button. Your application is not complete until you add the purchase to your checkout and progress to the confirmation page.

If you chose to pay for your OTA by credit or debit card then this should open up immediately for you although it may take up to 15 minutes in peak times.

For how to access this, please follow this FAQ - How to access my OTA (For LoCs)

Purchasing a retake

Accessing the retake application form. If you are unsuccessful on your first attempt of the OTA, you will be offered a link to the retake form in the same area where you see your results. You can also access this at any point from the OTA area on the Training Hub, just below the live assessment links. Better yet, for your convenience, you can access this right here. Apply now.

We don't need to step you back through the process as it replicates your original application. Again you can chose the same payment options as before.
