Do I need approval to use a training location in a deanery that already has GMC approval at a different location?

Yes. If you wish to train at a new location outside your current deanery, it is important that this training location has GMC approval. This is because the GMC approves specific programmes for each Deanery, so training that is done in another Deanery is outside your particular programme. It is the responsibility of the Training Programme Director (TPD) and relevant Educational Supervisor (ES) to ensure that training locations possess appropriate GMC approval before a trainee commences training. If you are considering training in a different location, you must first inform your ES and the TPD of the appropriate deanery, who will take action to ensure the location is approved.
