How long does the process take once I have submitted my application?

Once your application has been submitted to the GMC, the below process begins:

  • Initial checks: the specialist applications team at the GMC will check your eligibility for the application made, confirm your referees are appropriate, and ensure all compliance documents have been submitted correctly.
  • Assign an adviser: once initial checks have been completed, a GMC adviser will be assigned to your portfolio, with comments to be received within 30 days.
  • Amending evidence: once you have received comments from your assigned adviser, you will be provided with a further 60 days to act on this feedback, by providing additional or amended evidence.
  • Portfolio of evidence submitted to appropriate college: with all samples of evidence collated, your portfolio will be uploaded to the secure data sharing area on GMC connect. The Faculty will review the application and make a recommendation to the GMC within the defined service level agreement set by the GMC.

This process can take between three to six months before it is received by FSRH, however, timing is determined by the quality and suitability of your evidence submitted to the GMC; unsuitable or incomplete evidence will cause delays in this process. For more information, please consult the GMC website.
