How do I find a Faculty Registered Trainer (FRT)?

Modified on Wed, 17 Jul at 5:07 PM

The first step to gaining any of our qualifications is to find a FSRH Registered Trainer to help support your learning. Your trainer will be your primary contact throughout your training, and is responsible for confirming that you meet the entry requirements and have successfully completed all assessments.

One of the new improvements FSRH has added to our offering, is the launch of our new Find-A-Trainer platform. This allows us to give our Faculty Registered Trainers (FRT) access to advertise their services to available candidates to make getting started on our qualifications a smoother process than ever before.

Accessing the platform

Step 1. Log in or register. Access the PLD platform where you will be immediately greeted by a candidate walk through of the platform and an invitation to create an account.

Follow the instructions to create a candidate account if you haven't already done so or log in to view your current details. Creating a new account will send a one time code to your email address to complete your log in so please make sure you have access to this before starting.

Step 2. Watch the video.  Its only 11 minutes and gives you a fully comprehensive guide to not just how to use the platform but also how to get the best out of it.

Step 3. Set up your profile.  Take time to complete each of the profile fields. You may not think Location or Training/Qualification required is important at this stage but these tag your profile to match with what the trainers have added to theirs so it will help you to connect with someone. If you find that there are no Trainers active in your location, try alternate, nearby regions to see if there are Trainers available nearby. Alternatively, as the Platform is new to FRTs and more Trainers are joining all the time, it could bee that you simply need to wait for Trainers in your area to activate their accounts.

Examples of things you may want to include in your Training needs could be

  • Days/Time of your availability to receive training
  • Travel options which are available to you

Step 3. Find a trainer.  Click find a trainer and this will populate the search with both the areas you had selected in your Location field and also the qualification type you are looking to achieve. You will notice the search also adds Peripatetic to the location filter which is what trainers who work nationwide will tag themselves with. This is especially helpful for things like the FDRH Diploma which can now be taken fully remotely.

Step 4. Match with the trainer.  Click on a trainer to open their profile. You can view their record, send a formal request or also ask a question to open communications between you both. We always recommend reaching out with a communication to the trainer before blindly sending requests as this allows you to both set expectations of what the training will include.

HINT: Do remember this platform is only to connect you both and to help manage the relationship between you. You will still need to actually apply for your qualification when the agreement to work together is in place.
