Throughout the CSRH Training Programme, trainees will be allocated an educational supervisor, who is usually a CSRH consultant within a specific training deanery. Educational supervisors act as a trainee’s point of contract throughout the training programme, and support in training provision and planning, and work with trainees to consider development across the programme. In essence, educational supervisors act as a mentor. Trainees and educational supervisors keep close working relationships regarding development and supervision throughout the training programme, with the same educational supervisor typically working with a trainee for the duration of their training, from ST1 – ST6.
Clinical supervisors will supervise clinically on various clinical skills and focus on singular skills in isolation within the CSRH curriculum, such as deep-implant removal or ultrasound. Clinical supervisors can therefore sign-off assessments within their particular skill range and may come from a variety of SRH professional backgrounds, such as nurse specialist, midwife, or sonographer.
