My Letter of Competence has lapsed. Am I still able to fit coils or implants?

Having our qualifications are not legal requirements for you to be able to fit coils and/or implants. Instead holding the LoC is evidence that you have been trained to our standard and recertification evidences that you have kept up to date on current guidance and continued to do a minimum number of procedures per year. Some employers/trusts/authorities may stipulate that they require all those who practice under them to hold a valid qualification/ current membership with us and this decision will be one they've made at a local level.

It's always a good idea if your confidence needs a boost due to a gap in service etc, that you could contact a trainer and ask for a refresher or work alongside a peer to supervise them/ be supervised yourself. You always have the opportunity to retake our qualifications too if you decide it's in your best interest.

If you would like specific advice on whether you are able to recertify your lapsed qualification or how to restart your LoC training, please reach out to our Member Support Team.
