My GTPD is retiring, what happens to our programme?

Modified on Wed, 23 Nov, 2022 at 1:17 PM

A GTP can only operate when led by a FSRH approved GTPD. It's status is withdrawn if the GTPD resigns or retires from the post. This means that from the day the GTPD retires, if there is no replacement in role, all FRT's under the programme must cease training.

To ensure continuation of the programme, a GTPD can support the transfer the role to a colleague, by completing a reference for the applicant, which is subject to approval by the FSRH.

The reference form to be completed to give this reference is within the General Training Programme Registration Handbook and is named FORM C – Reference for a General Training Programme Director
