Has anybody taken the CESR route from O&G training? Would I have to give up my O&G training number or is it possible to dual CCT/CESR?

Dual CCT is not available for the CSRH Specialty Training Programme. If you are on the specialty register, you don’t need to do CESR. You just need to expand your skills portfolio appropriately and have the MFSRH to apply for a SRH consultant post.

In this instance it depends on the individual situation and how far along you are with training. If you are early in your training and you have a long journey ahead of you, you might want to think about resigning from your current programme and applying for a CSRH Training post. CSRH training is competency based and not time limited and any competence previously acquired can be evidence and approved. However, competition for these posts is extraordinarily high. An alternative would be seek a SAS post which will support you through CESR. That level of support is unknown and can be very tricky.

If you can complete/ are reaching the end of your current training, advice would be if possible complete O&G with CSRH appropriate ATSMs, GUM, publications etc, take the MFSRH as it is required in SRH JDs for Consultants, perhaps do some SRH local service work if timetabling allows, or do this post CCT to expand your portfolio appropriately, perhaps while O&G locuming, then apply for a CSRH consultant post.
