Does a different indication give a different safety profile for combined hormonal contraception (CHC)?

It is UKMEC 3 for use of CHC for contraception by woman with BMI ≥35 kg/m2.


The UKMEC gives categories for use for contraceptive purposes only. Use for other indications (e.g. gynaecological or management of acne) requires clinical judgement as the risk benefit ratio changes. UKMEC introduction section clarifies this.
