UKMEC states that guidance supports use of CHC up to age 50 years if there are no medical contraindications to use. Progestogen only pill may be continued beyond age of 50 years but the UKMEC cannot advise on individual circumstances.
The CEU guideline advises that contraception is not required after age 55. For further guidance, please refer to the FSRH guideline on Contraception for Women Aged Over 40 Years.
